Question Regarding Immigration

    Hi all,

So I am a US citizen residing here in Ireland. I have an Irish girlfriend. We are in the midst of applying for a de facto Relationship Visa. We have been living together consistently for roughly 3 years. One of these years was spent in the US and the remaining two have been spent here in Ireland.

To the point: I have a criminal record which constitutes a petty theft conviction from 6 years ago in California. The charge was allegedly reduced to an Infraction, however it looks like a misdemeanour on my DOJ record. The conviction is from 2010 and I am wondering if this will have any effect on my Visa application. I know during the review process they are looking for reasons to refuse the application (especially in lieu of the newly established criteria for the de facto visa and marriage sponsorship of non-EEAs since 2014). They have made it more difficult for Irish citizens to sponsor non-EEA peeps. IDK, just wondering if anyone has any loose ideas about whether or not this conviction/arrest will be a factor.

Thanks for any help of advice anyone can provide.

I assume as you here 2 years you have a permission to reside at the very least, during that process did you respond to any question about convictions etc?
