    what do folks think ?

looking at a 2013/14 model of each.

I read reviews regularly saying the XF is a great drivers car, but the 520 is just better. I think I prefer the interior of the BMW but the exterior of the Jag !

I've tried the A6 and the E class ( had the previous model ) and I'm just not impressed.

Anyone driven both of them and can compare ?

XF does feel more rapid to drive, but doesn't handle as well as the BMW when you are pushing on, and I just can't warm to the interior even on the new model.

if I am honest I dont think I drive anywhere I would notice the handling being any better in one than the other anymore.

I'm more interested in refinement and how quiet it is at 140 120 kph on the motorway and how well the suspension handles the sh1t city centre roads.

Yea - I sat in an A6 and then into the Jag and the Jag instantly felt better ( well, more driver focused than better put together ) - but I do love the interior of the 5 series ( colour and spec dependent of course )

the Jag is 150 more to insure I just found out also  !

Still think jag xf has an older man's car look and feel, even in the sportier versions.
Interior not as good a quality as the BMW either.

I love that age 5 series & A6 but the Jag is a prettier car IMO and far less common. BMW definitely has better interior than the XF but the Jag would be my pick anyway.

Would you consider a GS 300? For comfort and refinement it should be right up there.

Brother in law went from an f10 to the XF around 2012. On their third now.

God no, I cannot see the appeal of those at all ( bar the petrol engine ). I get you on refinement though, they are superb ( I presume, I can only base it on reputation rather than experience )

    Wow, they must love them.

I must admit I like the look of the f10 5 series, and I am impressed daily by its ability to smooth out bumps and how quiet it is on the motorway ( I had an S Class before this and honestly think it compares well). However, I hate buying the same thing again as I couldnt care what year the reg plate says it is.

The Jag looks cracking in the right colour / wheel combo though

Is your F10 an M-Sport or SE out of interest ?

its an Se, much as I like the look of the msport ( my previous 3 bmws were msport ) lets face it, the suspension ruins the ride. I very much doubt 90% of the owners of msports would appreciate and handling benefits of the stiffer sprung car but in fairness they do look better and the seats are nicer.
