vw passat cc rns 510 phone button just mutes

    Hi guys my dad bought a 'vw passat cc 2012 gti 140bhp. But I thought the car had a phone built in but I'm not sure. it has all the buttons for a phone. (Steering wheel buttons, button on the rsn 510 display. But when you press the phone buttons the radio just mutes.Everything else works fine . Just don't no if you have to buy a Bluetooth kit for phone set up much help would be appreciated. Head is melted I think the end is a upgraded radio fitted at some point but still not sure

    There should be some way to pair the phone to the car via Bluetooth first before any of the functions will work, have you got the manual to see what it is?

    This any use...

    The RNS 510 head unit does not have phone functionality built in by default so you may need the Bluetooth module. When I retrofitted the RNS 510 to my car I had to buy the Bluetooth module seperately.
