Looking for holiday ideas please

Really struggling to come up with a destination for this year's holiday, so I'm hoping that people here might have a few ideas. Been in Lake Garda and Sardinia the last couple of years, so something similar would be perfect, i.e. somewhere relaxing but with a bit to see and do relatively close by. There are a couple of other requirements:

    - direct flights from Dublin. Will only be going for a week so don't want to spend a lot of time in airports. Decent departure and arrival times would be a bonus, we'd rather not be arriving somewhere at 11pm.
    - not too hilly. I have a mobility issue that makes extensive walking difficult, but I can usually manage OK as long as there aren't loads of hills or steps.
    - easy to get to from destination airport. If needs be I'll hire a car, but if it can be avoided all the better.
    - a bit of sun. We'll be going sometime in the first two weeks in September. Doesn't have to be 30+ degrees as long as it's better than the weather we've been having.

All our research has thrown up obstacles (non-direct flights, awful flight times, etc.) so any suggestions would be very welcome.

    Thanks :)

I've only been to the Emerald coast in Sardinia on holiday didn't check out the rest of the Island but had a great holiday in Elba and it's just as beautiful with great beaches everywhere without the emerald coast price tag.
It's full of Italian tourists, hardly any English or Irish. Just make sure it's not school break time as prices will rocket.
If your happy enough with Italy i'd recommend it, you'll need a car to get around and the ferry but it is quite small and you'll know the island inside out in a week.
Pity Ryanair stopped flying to sardinia, couldn't find flights to corsica either and there was never flights to elba.

I am not long back from Salerno on the Amalfi coast in Italy. It is about 40 minutes on the train from Naples airport but is well worth the journey. I have mobility issues too, so appreciated that it was all flat. It is right on the seafront and is really quiet, the cruise ship brings in foreign tourists for a day once a week but we rarely saw any non- Italians. It allegedly has the same feel as Sorrento, it is just cheaper and quieter. It is a great base for Amalfi, Positano and Pompeii day trips too.

Have you tried looking through the Dublin Airport flight schedule?

Very easy to quickly run through all direct flights from Dublin, tick off those that don't meet your requirements (e.g. late arrival/early departure/awkward days/cold places) and see then what takes your fancy.

Might even throw up something you'd not thought of at all.

Salerno looks absolutely perfect, so I've just booked flights and accommodation. :)

Thanks everyone for your suggestions, I really appreciate it.

You made a great choice. I lived in Salerno for a while and it is a great base for the Amalfi coast, Capri, Pompeii etc. But the town itself is not touristy and you get to feel the real Italy. Also most things like eating out cost about half of what they would cost you in the tourist areas.

I'm heading out there myself again in a few weeks and can't wait to be back there.

    Enjoy your trip.

    JT.
