Third provisional

    I'm trying to get my other half on the road. She has had Two provisionals already, She got her first in 2008 and second in 2012. She never sat a test.

    So question is, does he have to send proof of a test booking to get the third provisional, and will she have to sit 12 lessons before the test or is she exempt because her first license was before that law came in.

    Provisional? We haven't had those in 9 years.

    You mean learner permit?

    Yes. The payment and booking will be accepted and proof of test booking forwarded for the purpose of applying for the permit.

    No lessons will be needed at this point. However, if your OH waits until such time as the last permit was expired for 5+years, she'd have to start completely from scratch including a new theory test.

    She has even more time than that. Assuming that the previous permit went from 2012 to 2014, she would have until 2019 before she has to start over. It's just something to bear in mind if she elects to leave if go for now :)
