Alternator gone, Primera 2002

So the alternator is gone on the car and it's stuck about 30 minutes from home. I need to get the car home and I'm wondering if I leave it connected to another car for a while, say 20 minutes ??, would it be charged enough to get me home? I'll be travelling the m50 so jumping it again half way likely won't be an option

It starts straight away with a jump and I went about 7-8 minutes after a jump to get it where it is now.

I'm sure there's no definitive answer but any tips or experience would be a great help!!

    Cheers

Yes should work, all unness electrics off for trip.
Give it half an hour charge with everything off then start it with leads still attached, disconnect and go.

Could you get a loan of another fully charged battery? It might be less stressful.

For that length of time yes, or you may drain the other car's battery.
Have the second car drive behind you in case you need another boost.

I've a mate with a Jeep. I'm gonna charge it off that for a while and get him to follow me. Hopefully no issues on the m50, once I'm off that it'll be grand. Will do it at off peak times too just in case!

    Thanks :)
