Bull hurt lump in his back

    Bought a young bull for my sucklers cows I ran him with the older bull for past 2 months sold old bull 3 weeks ago young bull developed lump in centre of his back is he finished for this year

    Not necessarily. More important to keep an eye on how he's moving, is he rising - all that kind of stuff than size of lump. Could just be something like a hematoma which is essentially like a bruise where some blood leaks out under skin from something rising on him and would be fine.

    I had the same thing happen to a young bull running with heifers.
    Reckon a heifer must of come down with her hoof on the centre at the spine on his back. It swelled up in a big lump (i'd say it was full of blood).
    I took him away as no way was he going to bull heifers that way and if another heifer jumped on him I was afraid it would kill him.
    Luckily I had another bull to put with the heifers.
    Anyway it took a few months for the swelling to go down and he was left with a kind of kink in his back/spine.
    I tried him with cows the next year and it didn't stop him from working.
    That was my own experience but as they say every case is different.:rolleyes:

    Had 2 last year 1 never improved other one is with my cows now and you'd never know he had it. Is it sore for him when you touch it. We got vet to look at them.

    Thanks I'll AI the rest I'm working as well I'll tail paint they should be all in calf by now hopefully he be ok next year thanks all
