    ...no no, not another RIP thread. I can't do that faux grief stuff and pretend to be shocked or devestated.

    I am merely noting that the director of the Deer Hunter has passed...and let's face it, that was an outstanding film. And his place in Hollywood history is secured by Heaven's Gate, if only for the way it led to a rethink in studios throwing money at projects and may have shaped film making in the 80s.

    as someone who has dabbled in the world of film - understand how hard that world can be - Deer Hunter wasn't perfect , but it certainly was a huge influence on me for a career in the visual wold - it was bit bit long, but a masterpiece - R.I.P.
