Very sad news. Terrific writer and performer.

Some of her work on The Royle Family was terrific. Not only funny, but very sharp and articulate in portraying certain aspects of modern family for many people.

Next time anyone tries to tell you Women can't be funny, remember Caroline and tell them they are wrong.

Another very talented person lost in 2016. It's incredible the amount of incredibly talented people that we have lost this year. In fact, I've even taken the precaution of increasing my life insurance.

Mrs. Merton to George Best: 'Georgie, why were you always going out with air hostesses - was it for the duty-free?'

    RIP a great talent.

    RIP a great talent.

My favourite was to Debbie McGee, who was a bit younger than Paul Daniels "So Debbie, what attracted you to the millionaire magician Paul Daniels"

    A very funny lady

    RIP

As a tribute, an episode of 'The Mrs Merton Show' is being shown on BBC One after the Germany vs Italy match/News.

EDIT: Of course, it's the Debbie McGee episode :)

Sad news. She was a great choice for Gogglebox narrator too. In fact I think she returned to it quite recently.

I was surprised to learn today her parents were Irish; I hadn't known about that.

    RIP.

I got an awful land when I heard this news this evening. Denise Royale would be one of my all time TV characters. Time to fire up Netflix.
