Item from eBay - Seller away for 2 months - Best protection

I recently won an auction on ebay for an item, the seller noted in his description that he would be away for 2 months and that he would post the item when he gets back. I was fully aware of this when I bid. He has 100% feedback and I don't have any reason to think it is anything bad natured.

I'm just wondering what is the best way to protect myself just in case. I don't really want to have Paypal Protection run out after these 2 months and be left with no comeback. I know there's a 90 day thing mentioned but I've had varying results on what it means specifically.

What would be good steps to ensure I'm protected?

Not exactly what I was looking for, but thanks.

I have to agree with ED E reply, don't pay until he's back and ready to post, but even if you pay now with Paypal I think you can open a dispute with 180 days so should be covered.

I wonder why will someone list an item for sale if they know they will be away for 2 months when auction finishes, why not wait until they are back, if they have a smart phone list the item while on vacation or schedule the listing to publish closer to the return date.

Thanks for that, checked up on that and yes the 180 days seems to be the more concrete one.

I guess they do it on holiday/away from home if they know they have the item at home and can have cash for that period of time. It's not that uncommon but the length of time was the thing I was little bit worried about, but the 180 days should protect that.
