What is the story with this forum?

We cannot discuss ruthless gangland killings on our streets in broad day light?

Is boards.ie making the decision for us all that we are not "allowed" to discuss what is happening?

Who makes these decisions for hundreds of people interested in the forum?

Strange forum or else strange way of running it...

Punish the lot is the lazy way out if there was a problem.

    No.
Moderation is not the problem anyway.

It says when closed if anything further happens it may be reopened.

I sent that mod a pm too at the same time I started this thread, and I seen someone else started a thread on the administration side.

I'm not overly bothered about it tbh what bothers me is a MOD deciding what I can and cannot discuss , ridiculous.
They should not have any right...

It's more to do with how it was being discussed more than anything.

You are bothered about the closure of the thread, it's the very basis of your anger and frustration.

Would it not have been better to wait for a response from the Mod instead of setting yourself up for failure?

This thread will be locked and you will be directed to Feedback.

But thats probably what you wanted, to support your Mod outrage.

    Not at all at all.....
Your very far away from the truth.
I just felt it a lil bit childish to be told what to do.
Plenty of other forums discussing it.
Nothing outside of my own personal little life could outrage me.
    U don't have a clue!

Can't see any of the waring factions suing boards for defaming their "good" names

    .

I am not aware of the regulations of the site , I was thinking maybe if I just remind someone it was locked and it would be reopened so I could have a little read about the latest brutal killing before I go on about my Saturday :)

    Very poetic!

There had been several warnings going through that thread about not using names or making accusations against individuals. It's an open case at the moment, and libel laws etcetera.

As happens when there's a lull in these things, it devolved into gossip, names were being used and a stop was put to it.

    No particular conspiracy.

Ok so why not open it again yesterday after that news?
I don't want to be like a head the ball on a forum
So I'll leave it at that.

But what do You mean very poetic?

I think it's gass that most of the posters on the thread had, either in depth knowledge of the inner workings of the Dublin gangs, or believed those posters.

Everyone on it was an expert, no one believed anything that was in the news unless some totally anonymous person on the internet said it was true!

You had a bit of a rhyming scheme going.

And well, did you actually -ask- anyone? Did they refuse to? Or was your absolute first move to open a thread having a go?

I'm not having a go and I'm certainly not even worked up about it, just find it funny.
Where else are you told what you can and cannot discuss on big local news?

My question was a pm sent and this thread, as I said I thought it would be opened once someone realised that it is prob just one MOD getting ahead of themselves.

Did you give the mod team time to respond before opening this thread?

    No but as I said........
I sent the pm and started this thread at the very same time because the MOD is probably not online 24/7 and someone else could re open it.

I thought it might be immediately opened like it should be.
I'm up out of bed and not looking for news to read to pass time any more so Im going off this and going about my normal Saturday.

I started a new thread yesterday and that to disappeared. I also sent the mod who closed last thread a p.m.
    Awaiting reply...
For those of us intrested in this sort of thing it was for the most part very informative and we even had a crime journalist on prasing it....it cetainly was more credible than the media.

Boards.ie is completely over moderated and has been for a very long time. Only post in a handful of forums now and that will start to dwindle much like the site. Not backing that up with anything, just look at feedback re the changes to the site, gearbest etc. Not the community it once was.

It was a pain in the hole for the moderators from what I can see, people were mentioning names and speculating on other peoples identities. Nobody likes going to court.

How many times has any discussion board been taken to court in Ireland?

As far as I'm aware the AH mods are discussing this and are likely reopening the thread.

The reason it was closed was due to multiple thread warnings being ignored with people being named in thread which can cause serious issues for boards, from a legal perspective.

In future it'd be best to PM a few mods to ensure you get a timely response, AH isn't for feedback which is where this belongs so I'll close it up. If you want it moved to the feedback forum can you fire me a PM.

    Sound!
