If you are going to do the bus and boat tours you will have access to these methods for 24hrs as the are hop on hop off services that will take you around the city. Tbh Amsterdam is not that big compared to other European cities therefore it is very walkable.

Don't go from the airport by taxi. We learned the hard way and it cost about €65 one way. We got the train back which was faster and was only €4.20 per person and has a terminal in the airport.

A disposable GVB chipkaart will cost €12.50 for 48hrs for Bus, Tram & Metro travel.

I'd say 95% of tourist travel in the city would be by tram, on short hops within the canal belt.
