got one of those hanging dehumidifiers in homestoreandmore for a few euro and threw it in the wardrobe more for the sake of it than anything else. couldn't believe it when i checked it earlier on (after it being in there for a few weeks) and it was nearly bursting with water! can't say we've had any moisture issues in the house bar the odd bit of excess water on the windows in the winter but i'm wondering if this is something i should be looking into a bit more?? threw another one in the spare room wardrobe at the back of the house and after a week there is a nice bit of water in it already

    Do u have mould issue?
    How many sleep in house?
Do u have a kitchen extractor fan?
    bathroom fans?
are dishes washed by hand or dishwasher
    Tumbler dryer not vented outside
Clothes dried in front of stove or elsewhere in house
    are wall vents stuffed
its a lack of ventilation/moisture generation issue, or it may be nothing

Do u have mould issue? no, odd bit around the main bedroom window but in general no
How many sleep in house? 2 adults and 1 toddler
Do u have a kitchen extractor fan? yes
    bathroom fans? yes
are dishes washed by hand or dishwasher? dishwasher
Tumbler dryer not vented outside? condensing dryer (clothes dried outside mostly)
Clothes dried in front of stove or elsewhere in house?
    are wall vents stuffed? no
its a lack of ventilation/moisture generation issue, or it may be nothing

yeah i thought that our house was ok but judging by these dehumidifiers there seems to be a lot more moisture in the air than i thought!

Genuine question - is that a bad thing?

The alternative is a house dried by air conditioning, which I find unbearable.

If the house is well ventilated, then is there actually a problem?

My (completely uneducated, admittedly) opinion would be that if there's no visible signs of mould or fungus then a bit of moisture isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Would be very interested in hearing knowledgeable opinions on that!

One of the signs of a problem is if with a correctly sized radiator, it still struggles to bring room up to temperature.

Not sure of exact amount but a couple of people sleeping produce about 200mls of water each night.

It's summertime, the air is warm (relatively), so the air holds more moisture and will therefore fill these dehumidifiers quite quickly. So you're getting a false positive.
If the same happens during the heating season, then you might need to investigate further but if you are not having any mould or associated issues then you are more than likely fine.
The buildup of condensation on your windows in the winter you mention points to under ventilation or lack of heating or a combination of both.
