Can someone tell me is it feasible to relocate to Dublin from Cork on an internship that pays between €17,500 and €19,500 on a pro-rata basis?

pro-rata for what? Will you be working full time for part of the year? Or only part time?

Also how cheaply are you prepared to live - room in a shared house in a dodgy location, or one in which you have a long bicycle ride to get to work? Are your tastes in socialising very cheap?

I don't live cheaply no, and I don't know what hours it is for so I suppose it's out of the question.

Yeah, just what I was thinking, I suppose anything under the €20,000 is not very feasible to live off in Dublin. Thanks.

surely all the people on the dole are living in dublin on less than that?

so while not ideal, it should be very possible.

It would be very tough moving with very little money as it is to be on that so I don't think it would be a very good idea.

How would someone find a good paying entry level job in Dublin then? There isn't much opportunity in Cork

It's doable if you are willing to live in a house share and are able to find something fairly cheap. A lot of entry level jobs don't pay much more than that either.

Yep, but they'd have social housing or rent supplement. You'd qualify for social housing at that income level but you'd be at the back of a very long queue. I'm not sure about the new Housing Assistance Payment, but for rent supplement, you had to be living in a place for 6 months to qualify, so that wouldn't work.
