I've finished reading this book, making a small dent in my Geology backlog. It's central premise is how the use of water, either as a mode of transport or a means to cool down as the primates emerged from the jungles due to a shift in climate had shaped human evolution and morphology. There is an excellent section on how other types of Homids, such as Neanderthals had survived nearly all glacial events but the last.

Overall, I enjoyed the book and found the author's style engaging.
