Carlow to Citywest Commute

Just looking for some advice. Got a new job in Citywest business park, starting next week.

Live in Carlow (20 minutes from motorway). Going to commute up and down everyday. It's a 9-5 job, so will be travelling on the roads at peak times.

Looking at Google Maps, I've two options. Go up on the M9, M7, N7 etc. I've driven this road plenty of times before but not at rush hour. Is it very busy and are there delays most days?

    2) The other option is to go through Tullow, Baltinglass, Blessington. I'm about 15 minutes from Tullow. Shorter distance but takes longer. Does anyone know if I'd actually save time going this way (due to traffic on the N7) or would the motorway be a better option.

Thanks in advance and any tips/advice is greatly appreciated.

(Sorry for posting this twice. For some reason anytime I tried to view my thread, it redirected to someones boiler problem!)

Motorway, no question. There is congestion between Naas-M7/M9 junction at busy times but the N81 is a horrible drive, twisty and dangerous and a complete head-wreck with idiots driving ridiculously slowly.

103.2 FM would be your friend, particularly in the evening. Check to see if there is any problems on N7 and divert only if necessary.

Thanks a million for info. I was thinking motorway would be better.

I live in carlow - sometimes when i drive the m7 and the naas bypass is clogged up i take the turnoff at steelstown and go paralell with the naas road down past punchestown and your on the motorway in kilcullen in 20 minutes from rathcoole.
