I was planning to build a 12'x8' wooden shed using 4"x2" and OSB as a floor-sitting on 12 concrete blocks on top of a concrete slab. However, I've now discovered some large roots that are in the way, and I don't want to chop them out in case it damages the tree that stands over the shed. It seems the only option is to do away with the slab and create mini pads for the blocks, positioned between the roots. Obviously, the less pads the better, so my question is -if I increased the joist size to 6" ×2" would I get away with sitting it on only 6 blocks ( ie: 3 along each long side).
