On the Eir website it is now showing fibre is available however when I check with sky it is still only saying 6mb available. Does anyone know how long it normally takes to become available from sky after Eir activates?

Same time for all providers, somebody in sky just has to integrate the latest database.

    I was thinking that, thanks.

I've been calling Sky so often about this. Eir shows the fibre as being 'live' for almost two weeks but it's not showing up on Sky's system. It's driving me ever so slightly insane 😫

I am in a similar situation

Check the Vodafone site (instead of calling Sky)

Once it's available to Vodafone .. sky will have it also

Mine took 3 weeks before it was available to Sky/Vodafone

Word of warning on Sky installation... it's done in 2 steps:
    1. Sierra come out to fit you socket
    2. KN come on another day to do the cabinet work

I went with Vodafone ... KN do the lot on the same day

Sky also wouldn't give latest off to existing Sky broadband customers

Our area was showing as live on the Eir website about 6 weeks before it actually went live. I was able to order it from Eir for the go-live date however Sky and Vodafone cannot offer it until it is live.

I've just been told by SKY that I can't upgraded and that it takes 6 months for SKY, Vodafone and non-Eir providers to get their system to detect fibre. So 6 months after Eir has Fibre you can be granted decent Internet services :/

And if I want to break my contract 6 months early so I can join Eir and get Fibre.... it'll cost me €113.

    Grrrr

I tested my address on the Vodafone website and they say maximum of 50mbps available. Sky are giving me a max of 7mbps.

I would call Shenanigans on that comment from Sky. In April this year a fibre cabinet went live in my village and I was able to upgrade my existing DSL sky account to Fibre straight away.
