When you're a 25 year old male that just moved from the states but you have social anxiety and don't know anybody so it's even harder to meet people so you just isolate yourself day after day using a computer, never hanging out with anybody

What's your location OP. This might help with answers.

    A couple of questions
    1. Have you ever gone to see a doctor/sought help for your social anxiety? Are you getting any help now?
    2. What are your current living circumstances? Are you sharing a house or apartment with anyone?
    3. Are you studying or working? Was there any reason why you came to Ireland?

Some people can happily spend their lives without contact with others. Its rare, but some people genuinely do it.

So its not the case that theres anything wrong with it.

But obviously you feel that it is a problem for you and you want to change it.

Congradulations man, if you have social anxiety even admitting you want to get out there a bit more is a massive step.

As other posters said its then really a question of finding out what interests you have in your location and go along to them.

Before I came to Ireland, I saw a doctor. I've not seen one in 2 or 3 years.

I'm sharing a small apartment with somebody.

I have to go to the social welfare office and apply. I came to Ireland to visit my dad.

If you try Meetup.com there are quite a few social groups in Dublin specifically aimed at people with social anxiety. They might be a good place to start

That's sort of interesting to me, I just don't partake in it.

I meant to say I like to ride bikes, listen to music, drink, misunderstand simple sentences.

I feel your pain. All I can say (Im near 50) try not let it destroy your life ....it will. Take it from a sufferer. I wish you the best. Paddy

    socialanxietyireland.com can be really useful.

But the main thing is, don't hide behind the computer! Go do something, it's a lot easier to meet people and be quiet or not if you are doing something together.

Social anxiety Ireland will offer to put you on a waiting list for their course which will take the guts of a year.

Groups like Stepout Ireland and Social Anxiety Anonymous will be able to help the OP today. I've used both groups myself and they've really helped me.

They are having issues with funding, I'm waiting almost a year and a half now.. I think there is a meetup group for social anxiety on meetup.com though.
