    Hey,

So I'm starting a professional masters of education in UL in September. I know I was 100% be based in Limerick for the 1st Semester and then a month or so of second semester and going out on placement the end of February that maybe based outside Limerick. Although I have requested to stay in Limerick for the placement.

I'm looking to get accommodation that wont tie me to a 10/12 month lease in case I don't get my placement in Limerick. Anybody got any advice?

Also anybody who is is doing a post grad and would be interested in joining together to rent a house. Then let me know :)

    Hi Siobhan,

I'm just finished 1st year of the PME and I was lucky enough to live with my parents. But I'll tell you about what some people did when they went home to Cork etc. for placements.

When the 1st years are on placement, the 2nd year PME students are in UL. When the 2nd years are on placement, the 1st years are in UL. So what some people in my class did was book the full academic year of accommodation, but then when the they went on placement, the 2nd year PMEs took over their rooms for semester 2.

The direct swap worked well for my friends anyway. It meant there were 4 weeks in February before placement when 1st years did a bit of couch surfing with college friends or an aunt or whatever, but it's a much lighter 4 weeks of college before placement, not too tough at all.

    Best of luck!

    Hi

    Thanks thats great.

Would you be able to provide an overview of what the work load is like regarding assignments etc?

Do you know of any student that were from outside Limerick that managed to get placed in Limerick for placement. I hoping to say in Limerick as I want to try and get a job down there

    Hi,

Yes lots of students got placements in Limerick who weren't from Limerick, for example just in my small class there was a guy from Cork, two girls from Clare and a guy from up North. Where you are from does not really matter, you just specify where you want to do your placement and the UL Placement Office do their best to suit everyone.

What is your subject? The music students (like me) had to find our own placements so we were told to start contacting schools in July (like 2 months before even starting the course!) which wasn't easy for us, but every other subject had theirs sorted for them by UL.

It's a busy course, I won't lie! Those with any bit of part-time jobs found it very difficult. The first 12 weeks are very academic, projects and lots of reading and writing. Term 2 is mostly placement and getting on top of the 2-year research project. I really enjoyed the first 4 weeks of term 2, less content and more preparation for placement.

It's all assignments, really. I only had 2 formal exams in the whole year.

my subject in physical education. I'm fully expecting a busy course so trying to prepare myself for that by doing a bit of reading now. Most my undergrad was assignments so don't think that will bother me.

Struggling to find accommodation though. I've emailed loads of places but they all seem to be gone. Want to try and avoid on campus and the complex places coz I've been there done that :)

I'm beginning a PME Music in September. I booked accommodation (Cappa) for the full academic year. Will be looking for another PME 2nd year to take it over in Jan. Any info on the course would be appreciated, looking forward to starting!

    Hi Everyone,

I just got accepted to the PME (languages) in UL, and was wondering is there anyone on here that got accepted also? or even to any other PME?

Accommodation is difficult because for the majority of second semester I will be on placement and not in Limerick. Are there are current PME students that would be interested in a house swap? as placements are on different times? Do you know if there are many Facebook groups or something where PME could do a house swap?

I really dont want to pay full years accommodation when i won't be there for half of it!

Also does anyone know if i can do placement in two different schools at one time? My subjects are German and Spanish and I am finding it difficult to find a school with both.
