Just got Vodafone Fibre in today and am gone from 10 mb download on ASDL to 6.8 mb on Fibre. Rang them up and said that they rent the lines from Eir and they set the recommended download speed. The recommended speed for my line is 4mb for ASDL and 7mb for Fibre. Even though I been getting round 10 mb this last few months on ASDL. Why bother upgrading the exchanges if they don't open up the throttle a bit ????????. I have to ring back tomorrow to see as the line is only in less than 24 hrs. Will be interesting to see what they can do.

Lets assume the ADSL prequal is out of date for now:

10Mb effective says 11Mb sync line giving about 2800m of cable to the exchange. To get 7Mb out of that you're probably connected to a cab 800m or a little more from the exchange.

Check that there and you'll see local cabs. If that matches up you can go back to ADSL but beware they may take you offline for a few days to do it.
