Hi all, I would love to do primary teaching but I did not to honours irish for my leaving cert this year. I really would love to do Primary Teaching. Is there a possible way to do it such as a Liberal Arts degree followed by a PME. I heard hibernia and places such as that do courses like. All thoughts appreciated. Cheers

According to their (UL's) subject requirements you'd need at least a c3 in higher Irish to get in to study Irish through liberal arts and maybe get your Irish result through that. You could call them and see if an A or a high B at Ordinary level might be accepted if they have places available.

Then there's the option of repeating leaving cert higher Irish or doing a evening Diploma in Irish (NUIG definitely has one), and getting your Irish that way. I think UCD, Maynooth do part time options too.
You could do a primary teaching course in the UK/ Northern Ireland . Might be places left on ucas clearing. You'll still need to get your Irish to be recognised to teach here though.

Then there's the PME route with St Pat's, Hibernia, Marino .

    Loads of options for you.

    Good luck with your results.

Is it possible to do an evening course while doing liberal arts and then would I be able to do a PME and become a primary school teacher?

Where are you based or would you like to go? You could ask Limerick if they do a similar course to NUIG . NUIG allow you do the part time Irish at the same time as your degree http://www.nuigalway.ie/administration_services/acadamh/cursai/cursai_dioplomai/dioploma_sa_ghaeilgec1_irish.html

Anything is possible, you would have to work hard and keep up with your assignments and exams in both courses:)
