I have just moved back from the UK to Dublin and was wondering if my English P45 will be accepted by my new Irish employers so I can avoid paying emergency tax?

P45 is irrelevant for you if you haven't worked in Ireland this financial year.

Call Revenue, tell them your employer's tax registration number, your start date, and also what you have been doing so far this year. Don't rely on your employer telling them, because that won't cover off the "what's he been doing so far this year" question.

your tax credits and cut off point in UK would be totally irrelevant here.
As Mrs [EMAIL="O@Bumble"]O@Bumble[/EMAIL] says get a tax credit certificate from revenue pronto and your tax will be sorted out in jig time.

You wont pay emergency tax for long if you register your emloyment with the tax office asap. Get the employer registered tax jumber off them and ring the tax office yourself.
