    hey folks
Sounds like the wheel bearing is gone on the front of my car,
Just wondering does anyone have an idea of around how much a new one would cost to be fitted ?
The car is an Avensis 06 and its the front left.

I just don't really have a clue and don't want to get ripped off.

You might be lucky and be able to change out just the bearing, or you may have to change out the whole hub.
Make an exploratory phone call check with Mr Toyota first.

The front bearings can be pressed out with a press on the front of an Avensis. The rear bearings need to be replaced with the whole hub.

The front bearings average at around €50 depending on which brand you take. Obviously don't go for the cheapest €30 options if you want it to last :)

I'm not sure how much labour it involves though.

    What mileage on the car?

Very rare for a front wheel bearing to go on an Avensis unless it's been crashed. Gearbox bearings on the other hand are another matter altogether and could mislead you into thinking its the wheelbearing that's gone.

In the event that it is the wheel bearing, the bearing itself is about €50 - €60. You might be better getting a hub and bearing intact from a breakers. Easier to fit and far faster.

Not that much labour involved but it does need the full removal of the hub and the removal / reinsertion of the bearing using a hydraulic press. It can also be very difficult to remove the outer circlip. They're usually corroded into place.
