Hi just wondering what the usual waiting time after an interview is? It was yesterday at 3pm. In my experience I have usually heard within 24hrs if successful. I'm dying here!!

Do you know if everyone being interviewed was seen on the same day?

Give it a few days at least.

You will usually hear within 48 hours. But ETBs can be much slower - up to a week. They usually wait to notify unsuccessful interviewees (if they bother) until their first choice has accepted the offer. If they don't accept then the next in line might be offered the position after several days.

Anecdotally the delay in ETBs seems to be a mixture of increased bureaucracy and a higher number of cases where the first choice turns down the offer because the ETBs are far more vague in their ads and job specification prior to interview leading to more chance of the job being rejected.

Best of luck. I hope you get good news.

Appointment can be slow at this time of the yeae for a few reasons. Reference checking is an important part and can take a few daus between missed calls and getting back, holidays etc. I wouldn't offer any post without checking references.

With maternity leave and small hours posts there are a lot of tyre kickers too, so far this year anyway, offer the job anf they say no thanks I'll stay where i am, then you have to move to the next on the panel and so on.

I know the waiting can be a killer but it wouldn't be right to say you didnt get it then say you did, better to give it time.

I was talking to a voluntary secondary principal today who was amazed i was checking references, she was under the impression that in the ETB we had 'someone to do the work for you'.

There ya go! Perception vs reality.

I agree completely that things should be done correctly and better to finalise things before notifying anyone of outcome. And there can be delays in any sector due to the holidays etc but it's a consistent complaint that ETBs are much slower to complete the whole process.

As someone still applying for jobs even though I hold a CID in an ETB and having seen all my friends applying over the past few years, my experience is that the voluntary sector is much more up front in how they advertise jobs and this means things run smoother for all concerned. You describe these applicants as tyre kickers and in your case they may be, but honestly, the amount of time wasted by vague ETB ads is unbelievable.

Sorry to hijack your thread but while on the topic of interviews...What is the policy on feedback after an interview? I went for an interview for a position that I know has already been filled and when I asked for feedback they informed me that it wouldn't be possible.

I don't think your entitled to feedback. Under data protection you can ask for a copy of your scores from the interview and any notes made about you. Without seeing other candidates scores, which you are not entitled to, your own don't tell you a lot.
