I got a 4 hour layover in Amsterdam. Does it take long to get from Schiphol Airport to the city center? If I remember correctly there is a train underneath the airport running into central station, is that correct?

Any tips on getting in and out quickly be much deprecated.

Yes there is a train station underneath the airport and it takes around 15 minutes to reach the central station in the city....day return costs €7:80. The train runs every few minutes during the day and once an hour between midnight and 6am.
I guess this would be your most reliable option.
Saying that, with 4 hour layover I wouldn't risk leaving the airport, especially a busy one like Schiphol and would book myself into the lounge instead and relax.

15 min? That's pretty good but yeah 4 hours is a bad time frame, too long to wait around not enough time to explore a little.

How do you book into a lounge?

There you go, €25 for 3 hours with all the drink and food you can manage:)
You can reserve it online by picking your time slot and paying then or else just turn up on the day and pay in person at the door.
I think an airport the size of Schiphol has a few other lounges too so I would pick one in the terminal your flight is due to fly from.

Not sure if this is the case for all gates and not sure how it works for transit passengers. But my recent trip to Schiphol (as was Schengen trip, AMS - BOD) when you go through security for that gate area there are very few shops and bars, really limited selection so my advice would be not to go through security too early.

Nice one for that info, definitely look into that.

I totally recommend using a lounge when you have a bit of a layover between flights. I had six hours to kill in Stansted recently and the lounge was a godsend as the hours flew by:)
