Reading online and hearing on radio/TV that the £ took its worst hit for 30 years and is at its lowest since the 80s. I checked the exchange rate and it was for £1 you get 1.19€. However, if I remember correctly, back in 2008/9 we were getting like for like so why are they reporting it's at its worst now.

    The Euro is also suffering.

They are talking relative to the dollar mostly.

the drop isnt based against the euro
its a share or stock market value, 600 billion has been wiped off the value of the quid over the last week

it has slightly improved for us shopping in £ but nothing dramatic, same level as february i think
im no expert but this is what i think lol

This period of financial carnage happens very rarely and aside from 08/9 and Black September 87 the trajectory is to the downside for quite a prolonged time frame.

Although the stock markets have experienced short bursts of financial panic this appears to be different due to the very real fear that the markets won't be able to recoup the losses they made.
