Can somebody explain how payments work?

I received a letter today saying I was overpaid for two days which i wasn't entitled to.

I was on a jobbridge until earlier this week.

My last few payments were on the 7th of January, i received 239.70, i thought jobbridge was 238. I don't know where the 1.70 came from.

    The 14 of January i received 240.

My last day of jobbridge was on 15 of January which was a Friday.

I signed of online. I don't remember what date exactly, but I remember the online form asking to put down the day i start work, which was the 18th.

I received another payment of 214 on January 21st.

The letter said i was over paid for the 18th and 19th of January.

My last payment of 214. Would that not have covered the previous week on jobbridge?

I have received the second correspondence about the overpayment. In both letters, they don't tell me how I should pay it back. I'm so confused.

The first letter didn't even tell me exactly how much I was overpayed by, just two days. The second letter tells me exactly how much i was overpayed.

I have no issue paying it back, i would just like to know how.

I was on citizens information website.

An overpayment can be reduced or cancelled if
    - it made a mistake that i could not reasonably be expected to have noticed.

What does this mean? Off course i didn't notice. I thought my last payment was my last week on jobbridge. I thought i was a bit short actually.

Write back to the dept and ask how you can repay them.

I read online that jobseekers payments are payed in arrears. Does this mean it would be for the previous week.

My last payment was given to me on the 21 January 2016. It was 214. Would this have been for the previous week that I spent on jobbridge, where i should have received 188 + 50 = 238.

    Yes you owe it.

On the 21st you were paid to the 19th and you started work the 18th. Therefore you are overpaid by 2 days.

I imagine the amount was €62.66?

You can pay by cash at your local office. Bank transfer, cheque, postal order .... whatever you want (just not by card). The Dept's account details are supposed to be on the first letter you got but sounds like they weren't.
