I'm an out of work Software Engineer, but the above course caught my interest. It would only afford me all modules in Formation 1 and Taxation in Formation 2 if I pass the exams, so as far as I'm aware, it wouldn't even qualify me as an Accounting Technician, but give me a good start.

Has anyone gone as far as self study and completing additional modules in Formation 2 and what would be required to go on to become an Accounting Technician.

After that, whether I'm working in Software or Finance, I would like to work and study the remaining Professional 1 and 2 exams. Any additional advice?

I'm also thinking that the following course would compliment a qualification in Accountancy or even as an Accounting Technician nicely: http://www.ipass.ie/certificate-in-payroll-techniques.html

So does anyone have any thoughts on my current and previous post, with respect to obtaining a Cert in Business and Accounting, accredited by CPA, then pursuing the remaining modules in Formation 2 and a Cert in Payroll Techniques?

The iPass course really compliments the Technician course. iPass are especially useful if you wish to pursue Payroll only type roles.
