Great deal, it does seem almost too good. But I've bought tonnes of stuff on banggood and I've never had any issues.

It's definitely too good to be true, has to be a copy for this price.

I'd believe it. I believe Banggood are one of the better Chinese retailers. They're well known for selling genuine Xiaomi products for example.

Why oh why did they stick with 1 gig of ram? So tempted but it's no good to me and you know an enhanced version will show up soon.

Do we think this is a genuine product or a copy?

Very tempting at that price if it's the real deal

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,766 ✭✭✭RossieMan

Any idea of how many they are going to have in stock I wonder? Might be a complete waste of time if they don't have many.

It's still a great option for Kodi/Open Elec - lots of positive reports on the Kodi forum: e.g.

No, that's the RPi 3, the one in the OP is RPi 2.

MASSIVE EDIT - Oops. It is the same one.

I'll go with Genuine, even if it isn't an official one, it would be as good as.
The original RPi was supposed to be a €10 PC, then it got pushed up in price for varied reasons by the sellers..
They've all crept up a little since then, but they could easily sell the last gen at that price and make a profit.

    :D
    :o

I saw the RPi 2 for €18 yesterday, that seems to have gone completely from the site.
    Even better.
But apart from the wrong model (by me not reading correctly, and assuming), I still would say it's genuine.

May not be many available at that price. Site will be inundated and possibly slow to a crawl. Even if they only have a handful it's clever marketing as people are posting this everywhere.

Gearbest, pay attention - sales like this will draw the multitudes and lots of new customers ;)

lol edited when I saw that's there's only one available rather than one per person.

How does this work? "Rush to buy"? Does this mean I'm buying it later?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 725 ✭✭✭Mickalus

Sweet, Signed up to the site there to get this deal. Goes live 10pm tomorrow night?

They have the details of the process here: http://deals.banggood.com/deals/edm/topic/Snapupprocess.html

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,381 ✭✭✭✭Allyall

There is only 1 available at this price.

Not 1 each. 1 single unit. It's not very likely that anyone here will get it.

FYI, there used to be a 'Red Pi' for the Chinese market, that wasn't meant to be exported and may have been sold at a cheaper price.

I'm not sure if it still exists as a Pi 3, unlikely.

Just saw there is only 1 available at the special price so it's a click lottery. Absolute waste of time, hundreds maybe thousands clicking the link at the same time. Pointless even trying

This is a bit of a farce isn't it? Sure there's 10 people on this thread alone, never mind everyone else in the world who's got an eye on this "deal" pfff.

Its clever marketing from banggood. For a $20 total loss they are getting huge amounts of free advertising through word of mouth, lots of newly registered accounts and thousands of website clicks which helps their residual revenue.

For those who are still confused, hundreds possibly thousands will be hitting f5 at 10pm in the desperate non existant hope of winning a single pi.

THERE IS ONLY ONE FOR SALE AT THE REDUCED PRICE!

Where are you getting that information from ?
I haven't tried these snap-up deals, but have bought a lot from BangGood and have no problems with them.

If you look at the product page it says the following:
    Sold/Limit: 0/1

Presume that means a limit of 1 unit available.

19 euro delivered is definitely a bargain for that though. Anyone got any ideas where else you can buy these for a good (bargain) price?
The only downside to this, is that it's just the pi - no case or sd cards or any of the other peripherals you might need.

I buy from them a lot too, and like them.
All of their promotional items are limited to a number at the price, and they post the amount of items available at promotional price on the ad and above the item.

This one says in the advert "1 PCS" and on the item page beside the SKU "Sold/Limit: 0/1".

Orange Pi are every bit as good, and are cheaper, although creeping up in price. I've used them for a few different projects, and they are compatible with RPi images.

I'm genuinely surprised, the people calling this out saying there was a single RPi available were correct all along.
Followed the countdown, and it went from 0 of 1 sold to 1 of 1 sold right away.

    Lesson learned.

To be fair though, the full price one is probably good value with them too thought right?

I know that's their plan all along, but still...

33e isn't too bad at all really! Would that get through customs?

I've ordered 2 at the price. I reckon they should get through easily enough, I ordered the day before yesterday.
If they get stopped, then I may get asked for ~€14 each as they were ordered seperately.
If they are shipped together, I may get asked for ~€21 altogether.

    ~€7 Duty on each one
    + €7 An Post handling.

EDIT - I'm also not in any rush to get them, as they may take up to 4 weeks.

So 33 plus 14, ugh is this whim worth 47 euro.... ugh.
    Damn you BargainAlerts!
