Looking for your views on these. I'm hoping to have my pistol license soon and these are priced at €45 at my range. Just wondering if anyone has used these especially in pistols.

Dirtiest sh1t I've ever put through a gun and the accuracy was desperate but it's 35 for the box and I'm used to paying €12+ for a box of .22lr so I make hay with it.

I normally put CCI subs through my rifle but at €12 per hundred this would be costly running a pistol. Is there any bulk ammo you guys would recommend

Depending on the pistol model some wont cycle subs. Is it a full slide like a Sig or 1911 clone or something like an Xesse Or Ruger? The mini slide of the Xesse or the bolt of the Ruger will cycle lower power subs but guns with a full slide will normally need the extra poke from HV to cycle the slide.

If you need HV power shop around. CCI Mini Mags are the best of the HV ammo. Shop around and you will get them at 80eu/1000

If standard velocity is all you need check out CCI Standard Velocity. They come in 50 round boxes and have almost identical speed as subs but generally a lot cheaper. If you shop around and buy in bricks of 500 or multiple thousands price can go down as low as 60/65eu/1000.

If you can id avoid the likes of the Federal or Remington Bulk Packs they are generally crap. I shot those federal through a match rifle at 25m to see what they would do and they went everywhere. No charge consistency in them. The likes of the CCI or similar will all be be boxed in 50/100 packs and are a far better option IMO

    Hope that helps

Thanks for that cw67irl. It's a beretta 87t I have ordered. I also have a couple of boxes of cci stingers in my safe. I might take them along and see how they fair out. I am getting good consistent results with my cci subs through the rifle that's why I'd hope to stay at least with that manufacturer.

Ah ok cool. Beretta 87 are a great gun. They should have no problem cycling cci standard. Thats what 90% of my club use. Its pretty much all I use in my Ruger MK and Kidd 10/22.

Definitely get a box or 2 and try them. Some people will have issues feeding subs from a vertical magazine like in a pistol. The slide can deform the heads as they load.

Where are you getting CCI Standard for €60/€65 per 1000. Everywhere I look they are €5/€5.20 per box, or €85 per 1000

Price are only like that if ordering 1000's, ie. 5,10 x1000 rounds.

But could be worth while doing a bulk buying club as such. A heap of us get together and approach a deal and order 10,000 round between us.

In theory you could be buying 1500 rounds yourself at the one time. I have 500 round limit on my rifle license and hopefully will be getting the 1000 rounds I asked for on my pistol license. So surely that would give you some buying power. You could stretch that out a bit if 2 lads got together, then they would be negotiating for 3000 rounds.

I would be interested in a bulk buy. Current buying power is 1000 rds

@luckysasha : did you buy a new 87T or used? Are you using it at the range and what range are you in now? I've had to put off my pistol purchase for now, but I hope to buy soon.

Don't fire the Stingers out of the pistol when you get it, they are too hot for pistols. As cw has mentioned try out the CCI standard , a good quality value for money round.

Theyre ok for plinking but for accuracy you'd be wasting your time. Im getting maybe 1 or 2 in 10 that wont cycle in my 10/22 , not enough power to push the bolt back and there is definitely a difference in muzzle report. I suspect that there are some that are a lower powder charge than others. They almost seem to be subsonic. Thats the problem with bulk ammo I suppose

Ive had that issue with cci standard in the pistol Hammerli target xesse sport. What alternative ammo would you recommend?

CCI Standard has functioned flawlessly in my 10/22 for years but doesn't work properly in my pistol for some reason, its not the mags as they are new, any ideas greatly appreciated.

The problem I think you have is not with the ammo, if you get a round that wont cycle then its to do with your spring in the return rod, see if you can purchase a Kidd one.
They are around 45 euro rod and 3 springs, just load some ammo when you get a jam strip down the gun and change the spring and repeat the process until you find which colour spring works for all ammo, problem solved.

Make sure you have the barrel properly fitted if its a non standard one, if you do one thing get the barrel fitted properly in a good Gunsmiths. (Most important) Saw it recently with an extremely experienced Gallery shooter who had problems with feeding etc, when I asked why, it was due to a new barrel he just fitted.

After that with clean mags problem solved, you will have jams so rarely you will almost forget what to do ;-)

Was amazed to see your xesse doesn't like the CCI stn, out of all the ammo I tried it cycled the best,

SK magazine the bean tin rounds worked ok, and eley club or sport,
What ammo are you using in the xesse at the mo ?

I have switched to SK Standard Plus in the interim, but want a dedicated target pistol 22 round. Any recommendations and I will try them out? Bar SK .22 Rds. I have some Ely sport and club, I will give them a try and see how I get on.

ELEY match pistol is a competition cartridge developed for the ultra-precise world of 50m Free Pistol.
ELEY match pistol had be designed to perform with a lower velocity providing reduced recoil and a softer feel, which improves pistol control and delivers rapid sight picture recovery.

Essential to the success of a Free Pistol shooter is the uniformity of each cartridge. To achieve this each ELEY match pistol round is checked by analytical processes, including computer controlled visual inspection and finely calibrated measuring equipment

jb88 have you tried any of the match rifle ammo out, I found them very accurate but they didn't cycle well in the xesse I don't think they are geared up for semi auto pistols, I was playing about with the idea of getting a second recoil spring and weakening it an trying it out, would be interesting to see if I could get them to cycle.
Here r some of my results on ammo.
    CCI stn ok
Centre X didn't feed last round in mag
    eley sport ok
    eley Prac ok
    R50 stove pipe
    RWS club ok
    RWS semi auto ok
RWS rifle target didn't feed last round
    SK stn+ ok
    Lapua pistol king ok
    eley rifle match ok

Pistol King would have been the best accuracy wise and feels like a bit more power that the standard rounds.

This is fairly extensive and well tested information, worth a lot. I really appreciate this and I hope other readers would as well. It seems that Pistol King and Eley match may be worth a try I have boxes of most of the others and I will start some trials and let you know how it goes. Thanks
