I bought a tvstar box last weekend. Was working fine until yesterday when suddenly i had no picture. I bought it back to the shop today where it was working perfectly. I bought a new HDMI cable as I thought it was that but it also worked in the shop.my chromecast is working so obviously the input/output is not damaged. Any ideas?? Can't do a reset as I have only a black screen

Its possible the output of the box is set too high for your tv to support, is there a scart connection on the box if so use a scart and turn box down to 720p and see it it will then work via hdmi if it has no hdmi u will need to connect to another tv and do this..

Try connecting to another hdmi connection on the tv

It is working through the scart lead now. Can I ask... I purchased a one for all digital aerial today that I was told would help me receive free view channels however I can't get any. I'm in North Kildare so thought I should be okay. The guy in the shop swore blind that everyone who bought one had no issues so I spent more and purchased a higher spec one. Should this work without an aerial/dish on the roof (we aren't allowed). Thanks in advance

    1. There is no such thing as a digital aerial. An aerial is an aerial. It must be for UHF.
    2. FreeView is the UK equivalent of Saorview. It is only available to those within range of a UK transmitter near the border or some parts of the east coast.
    3. Don't be fooled into buying amplified or boosted indoor aerials. If it isn't getting a good enough signal a booster wont help.

In North Kildare you will most likely want Kippure. Check which mast Saorview recommends for your area here . Place the aerial as near a window facing towards the mast.

Reset the box and do a rescan.
