    Long story short:

Completed Accounting Technician exams, and want to continue on.

But not sure what my options are?

Would rather not ask at work, since it will draw attention to me

And there's nobody in my 'circle' who is an accountancy / finance field.

Can anyone offer me advice on what courses / qualifications to look at?

    Thanks

Why would that be a bad thing?

Anyway, it might depend on whether you are working in industry or practice.

If you want to progress in accounting (become a qualified accountant) there's ACCA, ACA (CAI), CIMA, and CPA as the main bodies.

ACA, ACCA and CPA would be considered the bodies looking after practice accountants and CIMA and ACCA the bodies in tune with catering for accountants in industry.

You could consider getting a payroll qualification to broaden your skills at support level.

What's your long term goal, you're not really giving us much to go on.

Alot of people I know did an advance entry into an accounting degree. Came in in 3rd year did one year and got an level 7 ord degree. They did it part time 3 evenings week. As far as im aware you would have 4 acca exemptions and depending on the college you choose you could easily got another three or four. With a degree and 7 or 8 exemptions you could easily apply for trainee accountant roles, might take a pay cut at the start but you could be qualified within three years.
