Myself and the girlfriend and in the process of trying to organise a renovation on our main bathroom and have got a quote of 3,850 (incl VAT) for the full job not incl tiles, fixtures and fittings. The quote includes the following:
    • Disconnect and remove existing sanitary ware and tiles.
    • Install new bath and taps in position, alter waste outlet to accommodate.
    • Install new shower system, alter cold and hot water connections to accommodate.
    • Install new bathscreen over bath.
    • Install new w c in position, alter cold water connection and waste outlet to accommodate.
    • Install new basin and vanity unit, alter hot and cold water connections to accommodate.
    • Install new mirror / cabinet with light, alter electrics to accommodate.
    • Install new heated towel rail in position, alter pipework to accommodate.
    • Supply and install new extractor fan.
    • Supply and install new light in ceiling.
    • Tile all walls floor to ceiling + tile side of bath
    • Sheet floor with plywood and tile same.
    • Skip hire.

At first the quote seemed high however the place uses only 1 guy (he's fully booked until September) who is also their full-time employee. + they give a 5 year guarantee on everything. They are local to us and our dealings with them so far have been very positive + we are welcome to view examples of the guys previous work. Is there any way we can save some cash here? The bathroom isn't huge (2m x 1.7m).

We had originally budgeted for 6k in total but when we add some fairly standard fixtures and fittings in the cost it clocking in at over 7.5k incl VAT (which we will be claiming back under the HRI scheme).

Any advice greatly appreciated as we've never done this before!

Get two more quotes and you'll know if it's reasonable.
