    Are those cheap roll-up exercise/yoga mats any use as a carpet underlay to dampen noise and sounds from the room below?

    I wouldn't have thought they are as cheap as normal underlay per sq mtr. I think they would be a bit too dense to use as they wouldn't conform to imperfections as well as needed.

    You can get acoustic underlay which would probably help more.
