On holidays and connecting to the hotel wifi using my S7 edge, can't seem to get any apps or websites working (but get Facebook notifications alright?????) and even stranger than that, the wife has an old Galaxy Express phone and it connects to the wifi and EVERYTHING works .

Is there something in the settings I can change?

Obviously Ive tried resetting, forgetting the network, Ive asked the hotel to reset their network and still the same problem .

Its very unusual that an S7 won't connect and an old Express will

    Pls help!

Managed to try an S5 as well on the same network and it works flawlessly...

It has to be some sort of software issue with the s7 edge.....

I mean it connects to the wifi no problem, get fb notification pop ups, scores from matches etc.... but a lot of the apps won't open and chrome (tried the Internet app too) and they are basically useless

    Any help appreciated

    Help on this appreciated lads...

Wifi just came on today on my s7 then a few hours later gone again....

Wife's old Samsung express is working flawlessly throughout though... s7 wifi is gone now again. Just won't load any pages or apps but I will get notification.

Can't figure it out at all. Extremely annoying

You may need to sign in on the hotel network.

When it's connected, open your browser and go to 1.1.1.1 and see if that forces the sign in screen.

there is no protection on the wifi... I tried going to 1.1.1.1 and no page will load.

im typiny this on the wifes phone (old galaxy expras) on the same wifi so it has to he a software issue or maybe something in thr s7 settings

Hotel WLAN will usually always have a splash page that you are redirected to and have to accept T&Cs before allowing you access, was this done?

Did she have to sign in? Perhaps the router has reached the limit in regard to connections? Maybe she'd used that phone in the hotel before?

no sign in required.....ah I wonder if the phone will not connect because you are using an unsecured wifi/network. Tether your wife's phone, and see if you can connect to her (phone's) hotspot.
I wonder if a VPN would help in any way...probably not...

    How would I tether it???

I know how to set up.the hotspot but not sure how I would connect hers to the net and then jump on the back of that

Set hers up on a hotspot, and use that to connect to the net. Use yours to search for her phone, and away you go.

But seriously, I'll bet it's something simple. What provider is the hotel network?

She won't be able to connect to wifi then if using the phone as a hot spot..

OP a restoration of settings or factory reset might be worth a try..

Have you asked reception have they ever encountered anything like this before? I'm sure they have. Not everyone is as proactive in problem solving as you i can assure you :)

I did, apparently I'm the first! Ha ha!!!!

I see everyone with iPhone and Ipads etc working fine, has to be the Samsung software, I can't think of anything else...

    GPS ain't locating either!

Era only another 2 days, I shall survive! (Sounds like a song!)
