Who would have believed in 2006 that we would have seen a major Economic collapse, national bankruptcy, the annihilation and resurrection of Fianna Fáil, the victory of Yes in the SSM, the last 16 in the euros, Brexit, a black President in the US ...truth being stranger than fiction. What has amazed you in the last ten and what are your predictions for the next ten? Tonight I'm a bit glum so I think we are looking at a major recession again and a deep social crisis in the developed world. And we will win the Eurovision again.

Bit of a random social prediction, but I think we will see a demise in the trend towards celebrity culture and stupidity that has prevailed over the past decade which corresponded with the rise of social media.

I think a fair prediction is that the EMU will breakup, I hope not though.

I doubt it.There are enough people still not bored of this crap and those types of people will still be around in 10 years time.

The Communist Party of the USA comes to power (with help from its Cuban and Vietnamese allies) in The Peoples Democratic Socialist Soviet States of America in 2026 after finally removing fascist dictator Donald Trump & his military junta from power.

    You heard it here first.

If someone said back in 2006 that the future might not involve partying 3 nights a week I would have laughed and told them to listen to more minimal techno.

I'm now at home watching Bobs Burgers. It's not very good.

We'll fly to the moon in gondolas for our summer holidays, and instead of reading books, people will instead "watch" them by wearing a headset spins a tape of rapidly changing images around your head.

This fella put this up a good while ago, circa 80% correct with predictions.
Note also: Trump to win in the USA.

UK will gain a new free-trade pact that will include: Canada, Australia, Ireland & India, no need to learn foreign lingo anyways.

I could be completely wrong, Maybe its just hope. But I think we will kind of revert to a more traditional sort of society, moving away form mass production, huge chains, technology, computers, self driving cars, robots doing jobs etc.. Start to appreciate human ability and talent more and focus less on developing ways for technology to make our life even easier. Which I don't think is necessary? Do we really need robots to take away all our lower paid jobs? Do we need cars driving for us?

Need to pull you up on some of these:

Economic collapse was being widely predicted by economists back in 2006.

Last 16 of euros, hardly unthinkable. We were last 16 in the world only a few years earlier. When we did it in 2012 it was actually considered underachievement.

As soon as FF were decimated, people were predicting they'd come back, people have short memories etc.

The Brits have been anti-EU for a while....might not have thought they'd actually leave, but if anyone was going to leave it was them

Id like to think your right but then there are many powerful people out there seeing all sort of potentials for these new technologies, greed wins out every time. Unfortunately.
People who havent experienced the first worlds comforts yet will strive for that and drive the desire for more more more. Id like to think your right but cant see it happening anytime soon.

For the vast majority of people in 2006 a lot of what has happened was unthinkable. The collapse came as a bad shock to almost everyone. Otherwise it might have been avoided. No one saw the annihilation of FF or their quick return. People including me! Said they would be back but so soon? Nah. No one could see a Brexit. I'll give you the BIG.

People were using the web in 2005,robots have been in factorys for years .
The collapse was predicted, the whole economy being based on rising house prices was bound to end at some point.
Some experts were predicting the collapse but in the boom, most people ignored em .
It could be 10 years before self driving cars are common .
if companys find them safe and cheap to use they will use them.
companys build robots, we won,t have a choice,
Even factorys in china are now switching over to using robots instead of human workers .
    I think you,ll still have a choice to drive a car ,
maybe there be an auto drive, on, off switch.
chips and cpu,s get faster every year ,
so its cheaper to build cars and robots with advanced software built in.
some jobs are being replaced by computers or robots
so companys need half the people they used to .
Theres very few factorys left in ireland.
most people work in offices., or shop.s or the civil service .

I think there will be a crash with regards certain tech companies, the ones whose valuations enter the billions and largely based on how many users they have... yet they can't even make a profit. There's only so long before that will come crashing down and it's starting to happen already.
