This could have been asked before not sure. I just had a quick question as a friend wanted me to post to find an answer. If they are the adult dependent where their partner is in receipt of Social Welfare, does that mean they have to actively seeking work to the level of the claimant? Also would they be entitled to leave their area as an adult dependent to visit an elderly relative for more then 2 weeks? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

No they don't have to be looking for and available for work at all. If they are leaving the country for a long time or temporarily moving address then the claimant would need to inform the department.

Ah ok I will let them know that. They have been unemployed as well for awhile but still look for work online and locally. And no they wouldn't be moving address or leaving the country for long, they go home to visit their parent in their late 60s a few times a year to keep an eye on them and make sure they are alright. Anyways thanks for the advice I will pass it on.
