Thought I'd start a thread here for Information on travel to Lyon for the match.
Aer Lingus and Ryanair have said they may add additional capacity to Lyon, lest hope fare prices will be affordable as had been called for by politicians this morning.
Who else could we see operating flights for this event ?

Let's hope the French air traffic controllers don't call a strike over the weekend!!!

€629 round trip on FR. I think not!

The words "milking it" spring to mind.

And yes, supply and demand, yadda yadda yadda.

I develop Superior Solitaire when I'm not procrastinating on boards.ie.

Hopefully both airline will find extra capacity to add for DUB-LYS and this will bring the price down

Does EI not have a spare 757 or A330 for the day that could do the run over and back?

Unlikely, it's peak season, I'd imagine it would be even difficult to get a charter with free aircraft at such short notice, will be interesting to see

Suspect crewing an A330 is the big problem and not the availability. Provided they is no maintenance they could in theory squeeze a Lyon service out on Sunday morning.

Na not with Faro and Malaga operating which do 109/139 and especially with 330 A check on a Saturday.way too tight

Yes those crewing arraignments were planned months ago. They have no short haul slots for extra flights so getting crew for A330 won't be easy particularly when this weekend is going to be bussiest of the year departing Irish airports and that's before Euro traffic is included.

EI just don't have crew on demand like for example FR have.

An A330 to Lyons would be a social media hit for EI. But a nightmare for late afternoon TA operations.
I would say the best they could do is an additional A320 on the day, if even, as it is peak season.
Does anyone know, do EI have a standby A320 anymore?

Am sure FR have the fleet resources to set up an additional flight or 2?

No standby as such however they have some downtime which could reduce the impact on the overall schedule. It would be a big gamble and hoping the whole fleet is operational.

If they could get the ORD aircraft that arrives at 05.15 out before 07.00 things would work out pretty well but "luck" on tech issues would need to be on EI's side.

    9!

Is their a possibility of borrowing an AIG aircraft? Do the fan flight in EI colors and the schedule flight in BA?

A couple of A380's would work wonders now :)

The best way is to get a flight with vueling to Barcelona and then a connection with vueling to Lyon. Total cost is 230 one way.

U could get a train to lyon for 120euros which will take 5hrs or a bus for around 35 which will take 10hrs

Theres not many seats left for Friday's flight. More Seats available for saturday

Titan 767+757 and I have heard an Aer Lingus 330 is doing a run (I don't know how though either).

Seriously can't see an A330 doing a return run.simply not a spare aircraft on a Sunday.only Sat/Tues has gaps for maintenance.

If anyone wants to take a punt on us beating the French, ;) (hey we owe them one) fares to Paris the weekend of the 3rd of July when we would be playing are not astronomical by any means.

Correct but that's just for A checks, there is slots on turnarounds for scheduled stuff and a bit of schedule fiddling for longer turnarounds for other maintenance

    Re the A330 I'm told it's now a 340 so most likely Hi-Fly.

Aer Lingus hiring in an a340. Most likely HiFly as GVHOT mentioned. Out 0545, Back ~2200.

    Titan 767 G-POWD.. 0400, 2345.

Europe Airpost 733 and Transavia 738 also.

Thing is EI have not sold any extra seats publicly......so has somebody asked them to charter the aircraft on their behalf?

Just looking at the Dublin airport departures for today and the Ryanair flight to Lyon at 14:10 today (FR3877) was cancelled, and the Aer Lingus flight for tomorrow at 05:45 (EI2550) is also saying cancelled. Anyone have any idea why?

Possibly lack of match tickets, the French have most of them snaffled.

Read online that Irish fans only got 4500 tickets directly allocated. Pretty crap really for a 40K+ stadium. Am sure there will be more than 4500 Irish fans there however.
Obvious with the limit on tickets the perceived extra demand for flight didnt materialise.
