Independent motor assessor recommendation

Anyone have a recommendation for an independent motor valuation as part of an insurance claim?

Not happy with the valuation i've received from the insurance company and would like a second opinion. I've submitted examples of what I think the car is worth to the assessors to reconsider so hopefully won't need an independent but have a feeling I will.

Just to add I don't need the damage assessed but just a proper valuation. My car is semi-rare in Ireland so the book value etc. isn't as valid. Assessor claimed he was basing it on looking at cars in the UK but I couldn't find them for the price he was saying

If you look on the VRT calculator is the price they are saying is OMSP better or worse than the insurance company is offering?

I used CM Hegarty a couple of years ago for an independent valuation on my wife's written off car after a very poor valuation from the insurance company.

A guy I used to work with is an assesor there, but he got Mr. Hegarty to do the valuation to keep things all above board.

Turned out his valuation was in line with my valuation rather than the insurance company, so the insurance company paid the cost along with the settlement.

Ask them to provide you with copies of the actual examples they have found.
It's usual for Insurers to farm this work out to "specialist" companies (ie. A couple of guys in suits who can do a quick DoneDeal or Autotrader search) who will always come back with the cheapest examples of your car that they can find...often ignoring petrol vs diesel for example.
The more errors they make the better. This gives you more bargaining power to show the Insurer that whoever came up with a lowball valuation is either incapable, or out to screw you.

Motorcheck do a valuation for €8.... Lots of insurers use them as well as banks etc.... I've always found their valuations to be fairly close to reality.... They can also value semi rare / rare cars but might not be instant, maybe an hour or 2

Thanks lads. I'm in Wexford but as I wouldn't need the car to be seen i'd presume they can just do a valuation based on the model, service history etc?

The assessor acknowledged that the OMSP and Motorcheck reports seem a bit low so valued based on bringing from the UK. He said that he found examples of my car (2008 Alfa 159 Ti) for £4k on Autotrader from dealers but I can't see them myself. I've sent him on all the examples I can see on Autotrader / eBay from dealers which are around a min. of £5k. Hoping that'll work to get the valuation up as I genuinely just want to be able to replace the car I have like for like if possible.

I'd had it serviced 3 days before it was hit and it was in perfect cosmetic condition etc. Tyres were good, belt done etc. Guys out of the office until tomorrow so hopefully discuss with him then before he sends his valuation to the insurance company.

Hope it works out for you, I had a similer issue and sent in ad's for my model from all over the planet and they still only offered less then 10% of the second hand replacement value.
Again, it was a fairly rare model with only a single one for same in ireland.
Keep fighting and get a solicitor if needed, there are plenty that will do it for no win, no fee.

Got a figure I was happy with after some negotiation and sending on details of what I thought the car was worth. 20% higher than their original valuation though so it definitely pays to fight back
