I need to do some housekeeping on my laptop, mainly to delete unwanted apps. and removing unnecessary apps from start-up menu etc.

Do apps pinned to taskbar impact on laptop startup times similar to having apps. included in the start menu?

Also, is there a difference in efficiency between having apps. pinned to taskbar as opposed to desktop - are there any advantages / disadvantages to one as opposed to other?

    Thanks.

None of that makes any difference, including having them pinned to start.

CTRL + SHIFT + ESC gives you the task manager which has a startup tab.

Killing off infrequent programs/services from here will improve boot times.
