Log cabin advice please

We are planning on building a 6x4 meter garden studio to be used as a playroom/relaxation room and have been deliberating between a log cabin, block built shed or bespoke steel shed. After doing a bit of looking around, I am half sold on a log cabin.

We want a 70mm wall with decent kingspan insulation as we will be spending a lot of time in it. Ideally we would like to put a toilet in, but if this is going to be very costly then we will just set aside the space in the cabin and put the toilet in later. The rest of the cabin will be open plan with a little kitchenette and sink along one wall.

Has anyone else done something similar? We are getting prices between 10k and 15k just for the cabin itself, insulated and with windows and doors but no electricity etc. What is a reasonable price? Is there anything else we need to consider? I would appreciate if ye could pm me recommendations of companies. Thanks :D

connection of drainage to the existing system, who will do this?
    Planning requirements?

The cabin will be in our back garden and will be under 25 sq meters and less than 3.9 m high so afaik we won't need planning. Drainage wise, we are not sure yet, and it will probably be an expensive job. So that's why we might wait until down the line to install the toilet.

How much garden space will remain?

There'll be at least 30sq meters left in the garden after the cabin is built so should be ok in that regard.

Total waste of Money. 'Build a proper building that will add value to your property and shouldn't cost much more. Instead of wasting 15k on something that will devalue in time.

the lower end of your budget should get you a good cabin. Way to go.

Not at all. Get a good one and they're a great addition.

OP, if you haven't already, check out -snip-

I have to disagree with both previous posts.
Fact. Log Cabins do not add value to a property. Now that's fine if you don't intend to move and are prepared to right off the cost by depreciation year after year.

A properly constructed extension even a Garage will add to a property and appreciate in value over time.
A Building the size the op proposes could be built within the budget of 15k.

The thing is, I don't want to build an extension. I don't need the intrusion of having my house opened and the ground floor unusable while the extension is being built. We have had quotes from builders as a comparison and none of them have come in anywhere near 15k. Also, if we did build an extension, given the current layout of the house, we would have to change it around and pay to put a kitchen in the new part to make the space useable. Otherwise it would just be an odd room tacked on the end of the house. I'm not bothered at all about adding value to the house. I want a functional space that will serve it's purpose over time with minimal hassle to erect.

Off topic but as a matter of interest, the area that I live in has a ceiling value on properties like mine and one extra room would only increase the value by a small amount in comparison to the cost of an extension.

I never said anything about adding value to a property, I said they're a great addition.

Why can people just not add something that they want which they would benefit and enjoy?

I am hoping to add one to my back garden, as a office/TV room/gym workout area. Some are expensive, and i'm looking at a max budget of about €5k. I would really want to have a 15 year warranty on it though, as companies I've looked at only managing a measly 5 years.

    Can't have everything.
It ant be the cheapest out there with the longest warranty. For 5k, I'd be looking at steel sheds, not log cabins.

I'd take a good log cabin over a steal shed every time.

That's my point. You won't get a good log cabin with 15 year guarantee for €5k. Was it not obvious?

Would you get one with a 15 year warranty anywhere, genuine question. 5g grand will get you a reasonable one, but not one that would suit Lord Nikon's requirements.
