I have a Finlux sa0635 Saorview box and my dog decided to eat the remote. I have looked online for a replacement but can't find anything. Would a universal remote work properly with functions like teletext or are there any rebadged version s of this box that might have a compatible remote? Thanks

You could get a universal remote control, but you would then have to track down one that accepts that particular Finlux IR and hope it works. There are 100s of generic finlux codes out there so its finding one near that is the trial and error part, as these boxes were not mass produced in numbers eventhough the manufacturer themselves (Vestel Turkey) are a mass producer of set top boxes.

I suggest you contact http://www.finlux.ie/contact.php themselves. They may be able to supply you with a replacement.

Looks like a Vestel remote control, similar to those used by Walker, Nordmende, etc. There were a few different variations if I recall correctly.

Yes, thats always the risk. That RC is for labelled for a 0634 not a 0635. (have you model right OP ? Dont see that listed on the Saorview website ??)

@ OP If you still have the dog chewed remote, take off the battery compartment cover and see does it say RC2900 on the inside sticker. Its the only way you know that they didnt change the IR.

If it does then it will probably be fine, but you may wish to parcelmotel it, as the postage seems more expensive than the remote itself!

The Nordmende has a blue led, other than the biggest difference between then was the shape of the plastic bezel.

Newer remotes usually have more codes, Dealz do one for €1.50

The other option is a learning remote , but a second hand saorview box with remote might be cheaper

Thanks for the replies guys, I picked up a remote from Dealz and it works fine using a Vestel code apart from the teletext. Beats using it as a doorstop :)
