Spending Money Albufeira

    Hi all,

Heading to Albufeira next week for a holiday with a few friends.

Just wondering how much would you say is enough to bring? I'll be gone for 6 full days.

I have about 450 budgeted but can stretch that to 500 if I have to.

Is the food relatively cheap? We plan on having our breakfast in the apartment, then lunch and dinner eating out. Add in the ice creams, maybe the water park one day and another activity another day and they a couple of beers in the night.

Would you say my budget would be okay?

It really depends on where you will be eating out, there's plenty of places that do 3 course menus for under €20, however there are no shortage of expensive restaurants especially in the old town with prices similar to here.

No harm bringing extra money that you don't have to spend, they use Euros after all so you can spend it here when you get home :pac:

It’s really difficult to say, you’re talking €75 per day which to me would be plenty, but I don’t drink that much and we don’t tend to eat in very fancy places. I would say the prices are definitely cheaper than Irish prices. We ate in a couple of nice restaurants where the main courses were €15-20, but the great thing about Albufeira is that there are places to suit all budgets and a lot of restaurants do set menus at reasonable prices. I didn’t drink a lot, but I remember getting a cocktail right down at the beach in the old town for less than €7, beer was less than a fiver. Ice-cream, coffees, drinks with dinner etc can all add up and I think the danger with going with friends is that the majority rules, so you might end up eating in pricier places than you might chose yourself. If your budget includes excursions, then it might be a bit tight. It would prob be no harm having an extra €100 or so on standby just in case
