Got soil samples done. A few showing up low in potash, which l was surprised at as l always use compound fertiliser and get slurry out on them when l can.

Anyways is it MOP l need to get and when is the best time to spread? Next spring? If l spread in Autumn will l loose a lot through leeching?

Wull l get an instant response?

The physlag products from timac/grassland agro have up on 30% K and can be spread with your normal spreader. Anyone I know that used it got a good reaction to it. But I'm not sure about timings.

If you could get sulphate of potash it its better than mop so I'm told. Could spread 19 0 15 when you're going next with n. Is it silage ground low in it.? I'd put it out straight away

    Just spread 0.7.30 with nitrogen.

Any of the courses i did told us to put out Potash in the Autumn as the potash can come in in the silage if you spread it in the spring'
luxuriant uptake was the term they used.
Is this no longer the case.

MOP put out in the autumn/winter/early spring when there is no growth otherwise it will het used up in one blast of lush green grass and you are back to square one. I bought MOP this spring before the growth at €385 a tonne.

Also over doing k during the grazing season will drive tetany mad in milking stock so be careful. Little and often and direct slurry and fym onto the lowest fields

How low are the levels? I'm guessing it's silage ground? I think split it between now and next spring would be the best way to go.

As already mentioned tetany and luxury uptake are problems with it. Put the potash out after grazing next spring when closing it up for silage. The danger periods for tetany are spring and autumn, not mid summer.

If the seat's wet, sit on yer hat, a cool head is better than a wet ar5e.
