Hi, could someone help clear something up for me? I've worked as an adjunct lecturer for 5 years in a public university. I sign a new contract every year. I'm quitting now for another civil/public service job at EO level. However, am I counted as a new entrant because I haven't had a permanent contract? Or can I negotiate…

New entrant as far as I'm aware in the civil service, public servant may differ. But you should try and negotiate with the HR unit when you start the EO role, you can present the mitigating factors. If it falls in your favour they will back date the pay.
