Bluetooth 5 in, Stereo Sound out?

With the soon to arrive Bluetooth 5, with its quadrupal range and increasing data broadband capacity by 800%,I recently attempted to use two Bluetooth portable speakers together, only to realise it couldn't be done.
Obvious, when you think about it I guess, but only one speaker at a time will "Handshake" to a smartphone,(The music sourse))
This meant that a speaker could stream music at the barbeque outside, but not to a second speaker in the house.
Whilst these little speakers are fine, with their li-on batteries, and two tiny speakers 3 inches apart, they can hardly be considered as stereo sound.
In the end I made a system, based around the Bose room mate with an active , battery powered speaker, feeding a second speaker, where ever you want to place it for a decent stereo image.
Don't see anything battery powered and portable Bluetooth speaker stereo system on the net for sale that ticks this particular requirement for our barbeque summer ahead?
