    Guys please spread the word about this upcoming tournament, currently we have ten confirmed players and waiting on confirmation on a few others. Its only limited to 32 players entry only costs 25 euro which has to be paid on the night and we have a prize pool of 1000 euro.entry date closes on the 19th of July.And the group draws will be posted the following evening.
    It would be a shame to cancel such a great opportunity, considering we are adding the extra 200 euro to get this tournament going.

    Only one change, instead of Fischer time,Standard time will be used.
    I have been also being told that if we don't meet the expected numbers required the tournament will still go ahead.
    Currently we have 17 players confirmed with 2 weeks remaining until entry closes.
    I would like to say a lot of people within the ICU and Leinster chess clubs have been very helpful in advertising to try and get many potential players to participate in this event.So thank you very much!!!
    From the 27th of July to the end of September there will be a weekly chess tournament in Mathews Bar Collon. It will start on a Wednesday evening from 8pm and games for the night will run from that time until finished which will be usually be around 11pm.
    The structure of the tournament will run as follows.32 players will participate which will be randomly drawn and is not determined by ICU ratings,The tournament will start of groups of four with eight groups.
    Standard time will be used.Everyone in their group will play each other and once the top two performers will advance to a knockout round of 16.From there the tournament will continue with 1 game from each round until the finals.
    The entry fee for the tournament is €25 euro and the total prize pool is €1000
    The prizes will go as follows:
    1st €350
    2nd €250
    3rd €150
    4th €100
    There will also be 2 prizes for the best performers over the course of the tournament worth €50.We are also hoping to have FM David Fitzsimons participate:
    It would be a great addition to have some high rated chess players to be a part of this tournament.There will also be a bounty on his head for anybody who can knock out our FM of this tournament worth €50.
    Closing date is the 19th of July and start will be on the 27th 8pm sharp.
    Fide, ICU rules will apply but it will be an unrated tournament,Players don't have to be registered with the ICU to participate.
