No, because I personally believe their service has deteriorated from what it was 5 years ago when I first joined.
I think the €60/year is more than enough (maybe too much)

Not a notion , there isn't enough profit in suckling to be handing it over to middlemen

Think its 38 cent per set of tags ,ordered tags today and the levy isnt optional yet but at least they make you aware you are paying it

Same. Doesn't really effect us as we no longer keep sucklers/pbr's. However I did notice the reference to the ICBF levy when ordering our only set of tags for the year, earlier this week.
I was a member of the pedigree breeders council when the idea of ICBF was first introduced -about 30 years ago. At that time their principles and ideals were sold to us as the way forward in genetically improving the National Herd both commercial and pedigree. After lots of discussion, argument, toing and froing, and many meetings with the Dept of Agriculture representative it was decided that the PBC (through agreement from the individual breed societies) would support the formation of ICBF which would be headed up by Bryan Wyckam.
As some of you may know I have been out of the pedigree & suckling scene for about 10 years so I am not up to date with the current ideals.
However, I do have a serious problem with the aggressive promotion of the "stars" system. I think that our National herd is to small to cater for such a system and imo it will ruin the diversity of our national herd, lead to genetic inbreeding and probably in time remove the natural genetic/ environmental adaptability of our domestic cattle.

No I certainty won't and as dairy farmers esp all levies need to be revisited. All these fcukers drawing money are up 20%+ in income from dairying in the past 12 months just for turning up.

They need to be put back to 2014 income levels indexed linked to 2014 milk prices which would have them on a 40% reduction in income currently. That would concentrate their minds about where the jam was coming from and whose interests their star was linked to.

If the farm organizations waste this crisis without linking the incomes of every state or semi state outfit to our incomes they should all be out of a job.

My dad was involved in the very early days of icbf the tag levy was applied as he saw it as a short term measure to increase funding, He was shocked that it was still there so many years later

^^^ Like all levying when introduced. Once people become compliant in paying it remains there. Just like the government's 2% levy on insurance. Was introduced to bail out PMPA and AIB (will we ever learn) in the 80's and is still in place today.

More than enough? Far too much for the service they provide in my opinion. They are getting enough money off the Govt. for the BDGP

No such thing as 'short term' when it comes to any of those organisations. Everybody in ICBF knew that as well

I dropped mull a email last week and even though I order online they will credit me for the levy. Sooner every farmer pulls this levy the better at least the icbf will be transparent on money in

Yes I emailed them earlier in the year about levy paid last year, everytime I order replacement tags there's a credit on my account-would prefer the whole lot in 1 go, but at least I am getting it back
