Eircom router and e-vision acting up

I was hoping someone could here could tell me what the problem with my e-fibre router is having. The past couple of months our router regularly re-starts. From experience I noticed it used to always happen when my iPhone was connected to the 2.4G wifi signal. Since then I always connected to the 5G signal to somewhat better results. However we also have that God awful e-vision box which continues to break up when watching tv almost like I'm watching a crappy stream. Now I know speed isn't an issue as I regularly check the speed and its usually around 50 to 60mb. I have rang eir's God awful tech team who have said that because the router is plugged into a four way lead and not directly into a socket this is the problem. Unfortunately I live in an old house which only has a single socket where the tv and router are. But to be honest I don't entirely buy this as the cause. I've been a long time lurker of these boards and know there are some really tech savy guys and girls out there so any feedback would be hugely appreciated and some sort of solution would be amazing.

Too many factors, can't give you a straight answer.

Homeplugs performing poorly is a thing, especially in gang leads. Your best bet is to look at the logs on the F2000 to see if the WAN is dropping.

Thanks for your reply. I was talking to someone who said that gang leads especially cheap ones like I currently have can be troublesome. I have seen these gang leads that are spike and surge protected which I will pickup, not sure if that would be any help with this situation but it's worth a shot. Yeah I will look at the logs and post the results here as soon as I get home. Thanks once again.

You should try having a four way adapter going into the socket of your home plug , rather than the home plugs in parallel to other devices on an extension. If you can run cat5e between your stb and router, this would be best of all.

The original HPs eir deplyed for eVision weren't passthroughs, dunno if that's changed though.

Would you mind explaining this further, I'm not very tech savvy. What are HPs and passthroughs.

I'm getting back home tonight after being away the weekend and will check the WAN logs. I presume this is done by connecting my laptop to the modem and following the options presented to me.

On a side note my partner got a delivery which was for our neighbours next door. It just happened to be a new f2000 eir modem. I don't know however if they have e-vision as we don't know them too well but it was certainly coincidental.

    HP: Homeplug

Passthrough ones have a socket in the front like this. Means they can be directly on the ring main while still allowing a multi socket lead be used.

Cheers for explaining that. I did get my partner to purchase a three way adapter that plugs into the electrical socket. It is apparently surge and spike protected. Is this any benefit or would purchasing a hp passthrough be wise. To give an idea of what's plugged into this adapter. I have my tv, xbox one, router and e vision box all plugged in here. Like I mentioned I have no alternative as there is only a single socket situated here. My phone line also comes in here so I have to have the router here.

You mentioned checking WAN logs, would you mind explaining how I do this. Thank you

If by router you mean the home plug then this is a known issue. Plug the home plug directly into the electrical socket and plug the plugboard into the home plug.
